We are currently accepting questionnaires for this litter. Families will begin to chose their puppies at 4 weeks old in the order in which we receive non_refundable deposits. We are allowing in-persons introductions to the puppies by appointment but we are able to arrange video-conference appointments for those families unable to visit in-person.

WEEK 1

Lets start at the very beginning…”

The puppies were born July 11, 2022 . There are 6 girls and 2 boys in this second litter for Millie and Cooper. The puppies definitely take after their parents in their colouring because they are either red or black. The black puppies may become “Blue” or “ Silver” as they mature but for now they are are dark as their sweet little noses and paws.

Their first week is spend nursing and sleeping in short intervals which means we are too. Millie adores her puppies and prefers to sleep next to them at every opportunity. Millie has lots of wonderful milk and her puppies are gaining a few grams each day. They will shortly double their birth weights which ranged from 300 grams to 320 grams.

The puppies have had their first brief Vet exam while they were having their dewclaws removed. We have found that this simple , quick procedure avoids possible injury later in life.

Week 2

Its a very good place to start…”

The second week is a week of great changes and a lot of firsts The puppies are now well on their way to tripling their birth weights, trying to crawl, making their first calls for mom, playing with each other, and some will open their eyes. Its always one of the most exciting days when the puppies open their eyes. Of course, they can not see very aware but they now aware when I turn on the light to check on them.

Millie is nursing her puppies every 3-4 hours now and takes her time to groom each of them until they shine. Her puppies will crawl to her face and lick her too. They have been able to stand briefly and take a few tentative steps. Its so amazing that only after 14 days the puppies are sitting up, walking, playing with each other. and even have a few teeth poking through!

This week is the first time that the puppies will be de-wormed as part of a 4 part de-worming schedule.

Week 3

When you read, you begin with a-b-c…”

The third week is week of building on the basic skills of A-acceleration, B- barking and C-communication. The puppies are now able to put one paw in front of the other with small bursts of acceleration. Speed usually ends in tipping over but they are gaining confidence each day. I have to admit that hearing the first little barks is one of my favourite of the puppy milestones. The puppies are beginning to the process of learning communication with each other through touch, play, growls, barks, and licks. We are noticing a few character traits starting to emerge and it will be exciting to watch them mature into them.

The puppies are now at 3 pounds , have been teething, gained more fullness in their coats and growing taller. They are still exclusively nursing but have been sampling water. Water is not measuring up to mother’s milk so its not an easy “sell” .

Week 4

When you SING, you begin with DO-RE-MI…”

The fourth week the puppies learn to DO more things with confidence, RE-ally believe they can run like the wind in little spurts of speed and leap in bounds a puppy MI-le high. Its so heartwarming to watch them learn and play together. The new favourite game is tag ! Sometimes its just a tag and other times its more of a “pup pile” or “I have your ear !”

The puppies are now eating warm softened kibble three times a day but still prefer Mother’s milk. They will be nursing 4 times a day for the rest of the week but they are about to learn what weaning means. Our puppies are fed individually so we can not only monitor the amount of food each puppy receives at each meal but to avoid any potential food competition.

This is also the second of four scheduled de-worming preventative for the puppies.

I am happy to say that these are tidy puppies ! They are consistently paper-training and we expect they house train equally well. We will start to go outside in a few weeks and we will be introducing them to house-training, Many of our puppies go home understanding the basic concepts of going outside to GO.

Two of our puppies were adopted this week ! Louisa and Kurt have found their new families.

Week 5

THE FIRST THREE NOTES JUST HAPPEN TO BE… DO-RE-MI…”

The puppies are 5 weeks old!

Week 7

Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti…”

The puppies are already 7 weeks old! Now that the puppies have had their first vaccinations they are able to start venturing outside. They have started going for walks in the great outdoors and now our yard is full of the sounds of happy puppies.

Week8

“When you know the notes to sing
You can sing most anything
Together…”
